Datsun 510 Race Car Build

I’m one of those people who likes reading these types of threads and often get inspired and motivated afterwards. So in honor of this I’m going to start my own category on just Datsun related build threads.

Hi,
This is our car, I am pleased you enjoy it.
We finished the restoration at the end of 2007 and have had 2 successful seasons of racing in the historic class.
If you are interested we uploaded a couple of short videos on youtube of a test session at Levels Raceway, Timaru, NZ.

Sounds and goes great around the track. Would love to strip my 1600 down and build it up again along these lines.
Do you have any more info/pics on the L20b engine build? Looks like heaps of fun. Nicw job.
We spent a year preping our 510 for its first race in December 2009.
Since you have been racing for a while, we were wondering if you would not mind disclosing what suspension alignment settings and spring rates have worked well for you. Our suspension is fully adjustable, except for the front 1” dia. anti-roll bar. We are running the following:
Balanced corner weights
205/60-13 tires
215 lb/in front springs
600 lb/in rear springs
2 deg front camber, .9 deg rear camber
4 mm front toe out, 0 rear toe
We have taken some tire temperatures across the treads after some hot laps, but we have not completed these tests. and plan to make further adjustments prior to our next race in March 2010
We will appreciate any advice you can provide.
